Vakay, a holiday search platform, recently launched a campaign on equity crowdfunding platform, Crowdcube. The company is seeking to raise £100,000 for the development of its website features and marketing.
The new travel website, which was incorporated in 2015, offers users destination recommendations based on their budget and available date. Vakay is also seeking to become an online advertising website for destination marketing organizations. The company noted since its official launch last November, more than 2,000 users have visited its website and with over 60 % using its search concept.
Following its Crowdcube debut, Vakay’s co-founder and CEO Tom Davies announced the website has formed a promotional partnership with Uber, which will offer its users money off their first ride.
“After seeing our crowdcube pitch, uber reached out directly to explore how we could help them promote the app for UK airport transfers in the face of competition from providers such as the Heathrow and Gatwick Express. We will be promoting the offer through our social media channels, email and on our new destination pages which will go live post funding. As part of the agreement Vakay.co.uk will receive a commission from uber, for every user that redeems our unique code in the app.”
Davies then added:
“To receive this validation of our product from a company such as uber, whose own vision has globally disrupted the ground transportation market, is a huge boost! We are hoping this initial agreement will provide a foot in the door for Vakay.co.uk to explore future opportunities, and we have already discussed how we could help highlight new destinations they are operating in.”
Since its launch, Vakay’s Crowdcube has successfully secured 30% of its funding goal. It is set to close mid-October.
