With less than three weeks until its crowdfunding campaign on Fig comes to an end, inXile’s Entertainment’s highly anticipated game, Wasteland 3, has successfully raised nearly $3 million from over 15,500 backers. The studio, which raised $2.9 million from 61,290 backers on Kickstarter in 2012, launched the initiative earlier this month, seeking $2,750,000 for the game’s development and quickly secured the initial funding goal in less than a week.
“You start the game as the sole survivor of Team November, a Ranger squad dispatched to the icy Colorado wastes. This is a land of buried secrets, lost technology, fearsome lunatics, and deadly factions. No one here has ever heard of the Desert Rangers. Your reputation is yours to build from scratch, and your choices may save this land or doom it. With a renewed focus on macro-reactivity, you’ll be picking between warring factions, deciding whether locations are destroyed or saved, and making other far reaching decisions that have a marked impact on the shape of your world.”
Wasteland 3 is set to be available in single player as well as synchronous/asynchronous multiplayer and will be released on Windows Mac, Linux PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game’s digital copy (PC only) is starting at $33. Its PC version is planned to be available on Steam and GOG. inXile is currently determining which console platforms will have the game available. Estimated delivery for the game is late 2019. Recently the studio announced some stretch goal perks:
- $2.85 million: Unlock Ranger customization pieces of flair.
- $3 million: Talking car companion with codename Morningstar.
- $3.1 million: Customizable Ranger Squad Insignia for teams.
It was also noted that inXile is partnering with CrowdOx, which allows backers to have a PayPal backing option. Wasteland 3’s campaign is set to close on November 3rd.
