WorldRemit, a global digital remittances service platform based in the UK, today announced that Rhode Island residents can now securely send money overseas via its mobile app.  WorldRemit touts availability in US, DC and Puerto Rico. WorldRemit has targeted its service for immigrants in the U.S., allowing them to send money instantly to people in over 125 countries via smartphone.  Of the newly branded “Cooler and Warmer” state’s million residents, over 13% are foreign-born.

brion-nazzaro“Immigrants living in Rhode Island didn’t have many options available to them when it came to sending money overseas,” observed WorldRemit Corp Director Brion Nazzaro. “They’d have to stand in long lines at money transfer agents and pay unnecessary fees just to send hard-earned dollars back home to their friends and families. At WorldRemit, we’re solving that problem by giving people the ability to instantly, securely and easily transfer money from their phones.”

WorldRemit customers already send more than 500,000 transfers around the world every month.   Backed by Accel Partners and TCV, WorldRemit is available to send money from 50 countries to more than 125 receiving destinations.
