Rise Mumbai Accelerator, Barclay’s fintech accelerating program, announced it has assembled its first cohort, which consists of 10 startups. The India-based program is described as a community of the thinkers and doers that are working together to create the future of financial services. Its team revealed:
“After watching our co-working spaces across the world produce exciting results, we’ve brought the same opportunities to Mumbai. Rise Mumbai combines the outstanding facilities our members depend on with the open collaboration they love. We’ve used local materials to create a refreshing and vibrant space that gives you plenty of room to explore ideas, collaborate and learn. We offer an inspiring view across Mumbai’s financial district, excellent facilities and great coffee. But more importantly, we’re offering you a way to meet people who can help make your ideas happen. You’ll also be able to take part in events and programmes that introduce you to new ideas and help you share your own.”
According to Economic Times, the 10 startups include four from Bangalore, two each from Mumbai and Delhi, and one each from Chennai and Hyderabad. Each of the startups notably focuses on different areas of fintech, which includes artificial intelligence, data integration, and predictive lending. Sharing more details about the accelerating program, Himanshu Warudkar, program director at Rise Mumbai, stated:
“Rise Accelerator gives selected startups and Barclays colleagues the opportunity to work with each other on identifying innovative solutions to real problem statements.”
Ram Gopal chief operating officer of Barclays India, also noted:
“Unlike sectors like pharmaceuticals and manufacturing, financial services have been lagging behind in terms of money spent on innovation. Through Rise Accelerators, we hope to create a community on three pillars – Connect, Co-create and Scale.”
