Less than a month after wrapping up the filming portion of Super Troopers 2, director and star Jay Chandrasekhar offered backers a quick update on the highly anticipated comedy’s progress.
As previously reported, the production company Broken Lizard originally sought to raise $2 million for the highly anticipated sequel of Super Troopers during its Indiegogo run. Although the plot is currently unknown, according to IMDb, fans are still gearing up for what they believe to be a great follow up to the hilarious cult classic, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001.
In the latest update, Chandrasekhar reported that the film’s editor is working away in New York and is currently cutting the individual scenes while putting together the “Editor’s Cut.” He revealed:
“This is one of the best times in the movie-making process, because it’s the only time where there is no judgment. There are no reviews, there’s no snarky Internet chatter, and there are no dashed hopes. It’s all bliss. We had a great shoot. The performances were hilarious, the jokes seemed to work, and the stunts went off without a hitch. Right now, it’s all about excitement and promise, and discovery.”
He then noted that at the end of this month he and Kevin Heffernan will be sitting down and watching the film’s first cut. He added:
“We’ll love some stuff and we’ll hate some stuff, but, mostly, we’ll be thinking about how to get to the best version of that joke up onto the screen. Don’t worry. We’re good at that.”
The film will star Jay Chandrasekhar (starring and directing), Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, Erik Stolhanske, and Kevin Heffernan. In recent updates, Broken Lizard announced Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rob Lowe, Hayes MacArthur, Tyler Labine and Will Sasso also joined the cast.
