Indiegogo Announces Motorola, Lenovo, & Verizon Collaboration For “Transform the Smartphone Challenge”

On Thursday, Indiegogo announced it is collaborating with Motorola, Lenovo, and Verizon for a new contest called Transform the Smartphone Challenge. The global crowdfunding platform stated that the contest gives campaigners a chance to contribute to the creation of the next generation of Moto Mods apps.

indiegogo-1Sharing details about the challenge, Indiegogo explained that the apps are like apps that users download for their phones, but are for hardware instead:

They can be just about anything you can dream up: a film projector, top-of-the-line speaker, blood pressure monitor, you name it. And we want to add your vision to that list. You can flex your imaginations and build your own Moto Mod with features that have neverexisted for smartphones before.”

From now until January 31, 2016, campaigners can enter the contest and share their ideas for a chance to win a Moto Mods Development Kit (MDK) and a new smartphone Moto Z to get started on their prototype. Indiegogo noted that once the campaigner has a prototype, they may launch a campaign on its funding portal to get funds for its development. The website shared that its experts will guide campaigners in their crowdfunding strategy, creation, and promotions. It was noted:

indiegogo-2As part of our Transform the Smartphone Challenge, you have the chance to redefine what a Moto Z can do. The top concepts will have the opportunity to pitch your idea to executives at Moto’s Chicago office, and the opportunity for your product to be merchandised in Verizon stores.”

Indiegogo added that the top ten finalists will meet with Verizon Ventures and Lenovo Capital, and have a chance to see their Moto Mod distributed nationwide by Verizon. To make sure the winning Moto Mod gets into as many hands as possible, Moto will promote and distribute it online.
