Dame Products, a New York City startup, has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise a minimum of $50,000 for its new vibrator, Fin. The project not only surpassed its initial funding target easily, it also is known as the first ever sex toy to be launched on the crowdfunding giant’s platform.
Fin is described as a small, wearable vibrator that is designed to feel like a part of the use. It is worn between the fingers and offers low, medium, and high speeds. It is also made from medical-grade silicone (USP Class IV) and is USB rechargeable. Sharing details about Fin’s creation, Dame Products revealed:
“For most people with vulvas, physical intimacy is key to arousal, and clitoral stimulation is necessary for orgasm. As a vibrator company, we’re pretty good at stimulating clitorises. But you can’t create intimacy by just pressing a button. We knew we couldn’t reinvent the natural connection people feel when touching each other, so we decided to enhance it.”
Co-founder of Dame Products, Alexandra Fine, recently told Motherboard that Kickstarter is super close to the company’s Brooklyn headquarters and being that they were somewhat neighbors, they knew each other. Kickstarter’s vice president of communications, Justin Kazmark also noted that in the spirit of Dame making something “new and innovative” he and his team welcomed the startup with open arms. He also reported that the platform will continue to allow projects like Fin on its website on a case by case basis.
Fin is currently available through the Kickstarter initiative starting at $60. The company stated it plans to retail the toy at $74.95. Delivery is set for December 2016 (just in time for the holidays). The campaign is set to close on December 3rd.
