With nearly two weeks until its latest crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo comes to an end, Canadian audio technology company Mass Fidelity has raised nearly $170,000 for its new raD Wireless Multi-Room Speaker. Originally seeking $50,000, the company quickly secured $100,000 for the project.
As previously reported, the raD, which is named for its use of Radial Dispersion technology, is considered ideal for outdoor and unconventional listening environments, such as kitchens and bathrooms. It has a ruggedized, compact design that is IPX5 rated for water and shock resistance, for use where direct exposure to the elements (such as heat and water) is routine. The raD now offers users the ability to connect up to eight units together for a whole-home sound system, comprised of all three models (Core, Core Sub and raD), using the private, high-performance and uncompressed 5 GHz Adaptive network built into the products. Mass Fidelity previously raised $1 million through Indiegogo for its Core Wireless Speaker.
Bob Perry, Chief Revenue Officer, Mass Fidelity, stated:
“With a current base of customers already using the Core and Core Sub, we’ve received a portion of pre-orders from these individuals, many who’ve expressed excitement about the smaller and more rugged form factor. However, we have also attracted quite a number of backers from 59 countries around the world who are new to our products. We are sincerely excited for them to hear the raD and possibly the Core and Sub if they purchased a combo perk.”
The raD will continue the pre-sale through the Indiegogo initiative until December 15th. The lowest priced perk of $169 is a 43% discount off the planned retail price of $299.99 and is still available in limited numbers before going up to $189 for the remainder of the campaign (35% discount).
