“Weird Al” Yankovic, one of rock music’s famous satirist, is partnering with Legacy Recordings and PledgeMusic to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the release of his career-spanning box set, Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic.
The Squeeze Box consists all 14 of Weird Al’s studio albums remastered on CD, 150-gram vinyl and digital, spanning from his debut album “Weird Al” Yankovic (1983) to Mandatory Fun (2014). Mandatory Fun was not only the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on the Billboard chart but also the first to even reach that lofty position in over 50 years. Each of the albums included in Squeeze Box has reportedly earned multiple Grammy awards, as well as gold and platinum records in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. It was also revealed:
“Legacy Recordings, home to definitive releases by the world’s foremost recording artists including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd and Miles Davis, proudly presents Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic, a career-spanning box set of all fourteen of Al’s studio albums, remastered for CD and 150-gram vinyl, and lavishly housed in an exact replica of the artist’s signature accordion.”
Along with the studio albums, the Squeeze Box will also include a special 15th bonus album, Medium Rarities, featuring previously unreleased and non-album tracks selected by “Weird Al,” plus a 100-page book including a treasure trove of unseen photos, and memorabilia. Squeeze Box will be officially released November 24, 2017. Yankovic’s fans who pre-order will also gain access to a private section on PledgeMusic, where they will get a chance to enjoy exclusive videos of how the boxset was created and made, factoids on the musician’s career and even a special video greeting from Yankovic himself.
