LOVE Turntable Inc. has easily raised over $121K from over 375 backers during the first day of it Kickstarter campaign to bring its smartphone-controlled turntable to market. The LA-based company initially hoped to raise just $50,000 over the course of its 35-day campaign to aid in the manufacturing process.
“Although audio technology has made incredible strides over the last 40 years, the traditional turntable has remained relatively unchanged,” explained Love Turntable Inc. CEO and serial entrepreneur CH Pinhas. “Record sales have spiked over 60 percent in recent years, but nearly half of the people who own vinyl records don’t play them. Our goal is to make it simple for anyone to enjoy the natural melodies and pure traditional sound of analog through the convenience of modern-day technology.”
Sonos-endorsed and aiming to elevate the interaction between music lovers and their vinyl, LOVE enables users to enjoy the warmth of analog while eliminating the need to set each track meticulously. LOVE scans any record with its linear tracking sensor to determine the size of the record and number of tracks, and with a simple tap on the top of its shell, users can turn the turntable on and off as well as skip to the next track. LOVE spins on top of a record, which remains still, utilizing a traditional cartridge and stylus to maintain the tactile experience and classic sound that vinyl lovers seek. No additional weight is placed on the grooves, therefore preserving the integrity of the record.
LOVE’s revolutionary smart component comes into play with its user-friendly Android and iOS apps that allow listeners to control the turntable through their smartphones. Easily start and stop a record, select tracks and adjust the volume all with a click on the screen. Users can also access more information about their favorite records, including album details and cover art, through the LOVE app. LOVE streams the finest analog sound via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to audio devices including speakers, headphones, Hi-Fi components and home theater systems. Wi-Fi compatibility and connection to a DLNA source also allows for playing through nearly any home ecosystem and personal listening device, including Sonos. If your speaker system is not Bluetooth enabled, LOVE comes with a 3.5mm or RCA plug-and-play Bluetooth aptX adapter.
Crafted by world-renowned industrial designer Yves Béhar, the turntable’s design is reminiscent of the sculptural and expressive forms of musical instruments. Best known for his collaborations with highly-esteemed partners such as Herman Miller, Movado, Prada and Sodastream, Béhar is widely recognized for products synonymous with artistry and quality.
“The true distinction of the design is based on a speed form in motion; there is poetry and beauty in seeing it spinning over a still record,” described Béhar.
