UK’s Department for International Trade Selects Eleven Fintech Companies to Visit Australia & New Zealand Next Month

UK’s Department for International Trade announced last week it would bring a trade delegation of eleven of the country’s fintech companies to Australia and New Zealand in March 2017. The eleven companies selected were Aire, Clarus FT, Clearmacro, FundApps, ingage, iwoca, neyber, ObjectTech, Onfido, Sybenetix, and Tradle.

According to the Department, the trade mission will build on the success achieved by several UK companies in Australia, such as Ratesetter, ThinCats, TruRating and OTCX by promoting opportunities in Australian and New Zealand fintech.  This will include regtech, insurtech, and blockchain sectors.

The Department stated the eleven selected UK companies would participate in a full program of events, meetings, and workshops for five days, from March 20th to the 24th, in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. It was also noted that delegates would have the opportunity to meet and pitch to Australian financial institutions and Venture Capital Firms, visit fintech hubs, meet the regulator and government ministers, network with the Australian fintech community and UK fintechs.

British Consul General and Director-General UK Trade and Investment, Michael Ward, added:

“The opportunities for both the UK and Australasia in fintech are vast and it is fantastic to see so many UK fintech companies doing well here. We look forward to welcoming our first UK fintech delegation to showcase the opportunities that exist in Australia and New Zealand for UK companies and to foster greater collaboration between our countries in this rapidly developing and growing sector.”
