Investment crowdfunding platform StartEngine has organized a series of events across the country to boost awareness and platform utilization. Beginning this Monday (February 28), StartEngine will host a day long event entitled “1 Day to $100,000” to educate companies about their online funding options.
StartEngine explains:
An entire day with lawyers, consultants, creatives, and accountants without actually paying for them?! StartEngine is organizing the first equity crowdfunding one day free workshop for 
companies to go live the same day. Normally, a company will spend thousands of dollars on an accountant, lawyer, copywriter and other vendors to get their campaign to go live plus many dozen of hours in preparation time. The workshop provides all of these services at no cost. The idea of a same day go live workshop is helpful for entrepreneurs who are very busy. With StartEngine, companies can raise up to $1M per year directly from the general public (anyone).
Everyone who attends will receive free consultations from lawyers, CPAs and “crowdfunding experts”. They will also receive a review of the marketing potential and initial due diligence.
StartEngine has crowdfunded securities under Reg CF, Reg A+ and Reg D but today they are focusing mainly on Reg CF and Reg A+.
Under Reg CF, a company may raise up to $1 million from non-accredited investors.
Under Reg A+, a company may raise up to $50 million online and off, but the process is more costly than Reg CF and the issuer is required to comply with certain ongoing reporting.
Both of these securities exemptions were created under the JOBS Act of 2012 – the law the legalized investment crowdfunding.
