Overfunding: BrewDog’s DogHouse Hotel & Sour Beer Facility Quickly Secures $75,000 Funding Target on Indiegogo

Just days after launching its reward-based crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its Doghouse Craft Beer Hotel and Sour Beer Facility at its Columbus, Ohio location, UK-based brewery BrewDog has successfully secured its $75,000 funding target and is nearing $100,000 thanks to more than 575 backers.

As previously reportedBrewDog claims that the Doghouse is the first crowdfunded craft beer hotel. It will be attached to a brand new sour beer facility and both will be located on its new U.S. site. Doghouse features include beer themed rooms, punk jacuzzi, shower beer fridges, a spa that will have malted barley massages and hop face masks. Explaining the purpose of the hotel, BrewDog shared:

We want to create the top craft beer destination on the planet. Our brewery in Ellon, Scotland has become a destination for craft beer fans across Europe, and we want to build an even more amazing beer destination stateside. With The DogHouse focused on amazing craft beer from BrewDog and our favourite breweries worldwide, we’re creating the ideal environment in which to immerse yourself in the ultimate beery weekend.”

BrewDog also noted that the new sour beer facility will provide an opportunity to experiment and innovate the “weirdest” and most wonderful styles of beer:

By building a dedicated sour beer facility on site at our brewery in Columbus, Ohio, we’re setting ourselves up to start building some insane recipes without impacting on our day-to-day brewing.”

Doghouse and the Sour Beer Facility will cost $6 million to build and furnish. The proceeds from the Indiegogo campaign will enable the brewery to fast-track the project. The Indiegogo campaign is set to close at the beginning of April.
