Brief: PayPal Partners with Vistarooms.com, Fraud-Free Travel in India

Do you remember using Travelers Checks when traveling? Filling out your name on individual checks and jotting down all those checks numbers? Checking into an international American Express office to exchange money, picking up mail or making a telephone call? Collect? Lugging around a Let’s Go? Traveling in India may have just become even simpler.

PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) users can now book their hotels in India with fraud-free ease, as the digital payment giant has a partnered with Vistarooms.com to enable foreigners traveling to India to book hotels in the country.

“Vistarooms.com will help us further add to the existing list of travel and tourism partners that includes OYO rooms and Makemytrip. Additionally, our seller protection program helps merchants safeguard their online services from frauds,” explained PayPal Director for Large Merchants in India Megha Thareja Tyagi. “We have focused on mapping the touch points of foreign tourists’ lifecycle – ranging from hotels, cab services, food, and festivals and partnering with these merchants to enable them to enjoy a safe and seamless travel experience while also protecting the Incredible India story.”

Vistarooms.com has over 1,000 hotels across India, Sri Lanka and Maldives and they will be using the automated invoicing capability of PayPal.

“Our partnership with PayPal allows us to provide further payment flexibility to both local and international travellers,” added Vista Rooms Co-Founder Ankita Sheth.

In other PayPal news, during March PayPal participated in a fundraise for Viva Republica, a Korean fintech startup that provides a P2P money transfer service called Toss, a company that has experienced rapid growth with over 6 million app downloads and over USD$3 billion money transfers.
