Eat Square, a UK-based pie company specializing in quality pies of individual portion size, has recently launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The company is currently seeking £40,000 through this investment round.
Founded in 2014 by restaurateur Alex Joll, Eat Square offers pies that are made with free range local meats and ingredients from traditional recipes. The company now sells at markets and various shops, pubs, and restaurants across Wiltshire.
“Eat Square care about the ingredients we use so we source our meat locally and bake traditional pies. Our meat comes from just 3 miles down the road in Broughton Gifford and is all free range, as our our eggs. We make all our own pastry in house to traditional recipes and this is one of the reasons our pies taste so good. The fillings are cooked by us and we pack these in every Eat Square pie to make sure its the best it can be.”
The company also noted:
“The secret of our pies is our pastry. The rich short-crust pastry is made to a family recipe passed down the generations. Commended by the judges of the Great British Pie Awards, on the pie review site Pirate, and by our customers. Now we have added a fantastic gluten free pastry to our range. We fill our pastry with tasty fillings made from the best free range local meats and produce.”
Eat Square reported that the pies have already won awards and are listed with Co-Op, Budgens, and Londis retailers. They are available at local football grounds, tourist attractions, and other venues/events. In early 2016, the company introduced a range of gluten and dairy free pieces along with vegan options.
Funds from the Seedrs initiative will go towards the company’s growth. It is set to close later this spring.
