The future of fashion is eco, sustainable, biodegradable, produced with natural materials; COSHOP has positioned itself within this sector as an innovative, responsible and sustainable solution. Linking with Crowdcube Spain, COSHOP seeks to raise 160,000€ for 13.82% equity offered. To date, over 21 investors have contributed over 21,400€ to the campaign.
“We design and produce in Spain, from our headquarters in Barcelona. We work with natural and organic, sustainable and recyclable fabrics. We support new talent, offer commercial space and help them grow their project,” indicated COSHOP in its campaign. “We offer to the public a fashion exclusive, sustainable, ecological and proximity. And priced at market thanks to the optimization of resources.”
The company has opened four stores between 2015 and 2016, with a gorgeous flagship store in the Gràcia neighborhood of BCN (a hotbed for crowdfunding entrepreneurs), and has started selling online via its ecommerce website. Founded by CEO Nieves Torres Ayala, COSHOP aims to addresses the affects the shifting textile industry by reestablishing jobs in Spain and supporting local designers.
“COSHOP was created as a new brand concept, its community (designers, workshops and in-house), combining media and efforts to break the chain of production and distribution by offering the public an alternative to large multinationals,” shared the campaign. “Working with natural and organic fabrics, quality and production in proximity creates a sustainable reference brand that promotes the slow life and values of responsibility and ethics to the environment and society. We are very attentive to the industry 4.0 that outlines a future where the customization and the ecology mark strong tendencies.”
A winner of Momentum Project 2014 (ESADE-BBVA), an accelerator program and a prize for the best business initiative of Barcelona 2015, COSHOP’s first round of financing included BBVA. In 2016, COSHOP signed a contract of distribution for Spain and Portugal with Pepper Brands, considered one of the leading distributors of fashion in Spain.
The key activities of COSHOP consist of the continuous support of the designers (since his selection in forward) facilitating the sale of their products through the store itself (and other online “marketplace”) and putting them in contact with various vendors creating synergies for the production and marketing of their designs. COSHOP also produces its own brand of fashion, which is manufactured both in local and social inclusion industrial workshops. This is how COSHOP gets to interact with the participants of the chain and finally reach the final consumer.
Funding will be used to increase the presence and visibility both offline and online and achieve brand recognition and the desired sales increase to make the business more scalable and financially sustainable. Moving forward, COSHOP will focus on opening of franchises to strengthen the presence of the brand without increasing fixed costs and risks, controlled growth and increased production up to a percentage of 70% by 2019.
