Tellybean Launches First iOS App As Invesdor Funding Round Nears Deadline

With just hours to go until its Invesdor funding round comes to an end, video call service Tellybean announces the launch of its new iOS app. As previously reported, Tellybean took to the crowdfunding platform at the end of February and successfully secured its minimum funding target of €375,000.

Tellybean reported that its technology brings families together in the living room through life-sized video calls on televisions. It was revealed:

“Tellybean was founded to solve a personal problem: how to enable a grandmother to see her two grandsons more often. In this specific case grandma was in Australia and the grandkids in Finland, but we realised that a lot of people face the same problem regardless of distance. Skype was too difficult for her to use and it only worked on small screens. Sitting the whole family on the couch with grandma life-sized on TV was the most natural way to video call and the best way of keeping the kids emotionally engaged. But there was no simple way of doing this.”

To resolve communication problems, Tellybean’s services now allows users to make video calls on compatible smart TV’s and set-top boxes (STBs). The company’s services also work on both mobile phones and computers. Speaking about the iOS app, Cami Hongell, CEO and Co- founder of Tellybean, stated:

“It has been a busy past few months for Tellybean. Developing on new platforms is always tricky, but I am extremely proud of our team. We are now making Tellybean calls on new TV platforms and on iOS devices. It also gives me great satisfaction to be able to close a successful investment round. I thank our shareholders for their continued support and welcome a fresh batch of shareholders on board.”

Tellybean also revealed that it is planning to launch with LG, start cooperation with Samsung, complete services (launching apps on Samsung, LG, and Opera TV platforms), implement additional features, and secure long-term funding.
