BBD-FNB Partners with Crowdsurfer and Academy of Internet Finance on Global Crowdfunding Index

BBD-FNB Ltd., a China based big data provider has created a “Global Crowdfunding Index” in partnership with Crowdsurfer and the Academy of Internet Finance (AIF) at Zhejiang University and headquartered in Hangzhou. BBD (Business Big Data) is a founding member of AIF. The Index is said to capture information from thousands of platforms worldwide and help investors assess opportunities and management risk. The Index will encompass all aspects of crowdfunding including investment crowdfunding, donations and rewards. The trio estimate there are 5000 or so crowdfunding platforms in operation today with an average of 50 new platforms launched each month around the world.

While this is not the first alternative finance Index to be launched it is clearly the most ambitious in its approach.

Helen Wang, CEO of BBD UK, said the joint forces of the three partners would unleash an “unprecedented attempt to offer a revolutionary product that is going to shape the financial industry”.

Professor Shenglin Ben, Dean of AIF, added;

“We are delighted to work with our partners in Britain, which constitutes an important and integral part of our globalization strategy. As a leading academic institution in FinTech research, AIF considers globalization one of its cornerstones.”

Crowdsurfer CEO Emily Mackay called the Index the world’s first true measur of online marketplace based finance in all its forms.

” We’re proud to be bringing our detailed industry data expertise and big data analytics technology to this new partnership.”
