GoFundMe Verifies Several Campaigns Dedicated to San Diego Pool Party Shooting

Following the shooting at a pool party in San Diego that left one person dead and injured six others, GoFundMe announced that several campaigns have been launched on its crowdfunding platform to help those involved in the tragic event.

The funding portal revealed on Wednesday that its team is currently working with organizers of various campaigns to ensure safety, transparency, and secured delivery of funds to the intended recipients (i.e. the victims). GoFundMe reassured that the following campaigns have been verified for the cause:

  • Demetrius Griffin: a witness to this horrific event, started this campaign to help with the medical costs of the survivors of the attack. The initiative is seeking $100,000.
  • Michelle Fuget: the mother of fatally injured Monique Clark, started this GoFundMe campaign to help with the burial and to care for Monique’s three daughters. The campaign’s funding target is $100,000.
  • Drew Phillips: A friend of many at the party, started a campaign for the medical care of Kion Gould, a survivor of the shooting. The initiative is aiming to raise $100,000.

The platform went on to add:

GoFundMe is proud to be part of the San Diego community, and we’ve made donations to all three campaigns to show our support after this tragedy.”
