UK Nighttime Brand HÜGGE Quickly Overfunds on Seedrs

HÜGGE, a UK-based mattress company influenced by Scandinavian design, has successfully secured its initial £120,000 funding target from more than 120 investors through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. Founded in 2016 by Paul Francis, HÜGGE began to sell directly to consumers through its website and Harrods. Soon, Harvey Norman will become a stockist in Ireland. The company revealed:

“Supported by a small team, we set out to design and build a mattress that friends and family can trust. Our confidence in the product is supported by a ‘100 night sleep-well trial’, offering a full refund if the buyer isn’t satisfied. Our aim is to become a name recognised across the British Isles as the leading lifestyle nighttime brand.”

The company offers a mattress that combines two different types of memory foam. and a pillow that is cool, plump and squishy.  The mattress also comes with a 10-year warranty.

We think it’s about time the bedding industry woke up. Consumers are baffled by too many choices, a quick in-store test doesn’t help you choose the right mattress – and how do you know you’re getting the best deal? We believe the process can be simplified without losing sight of you and your needs. By changing the business model we can make better quality mattresses available to more people at a fairer price.”

Funds from the campaign will be used for HÜGGE’s expansion. It is set to close later this summer.
