Spanish urban craft distillery Santamanía has secured over £941,609 to date during its exciting equity crowdfunding Crowdcube Spain campaign. Over 749 backers have invested in the 11.88% equity offered for the distillery with a pre money valuation of £6,987,000. The campaign was extended and is scheduled to close on 16 July.
Santamanía opted for crowdfunding for its fundraising round, which although less traditional, better aligns with the company’s own less traditional philosophy. To recap, Santamanía holds a solid operational record with 2016 revenue of £528K+ with a currently profitable 2017. Santamanía says it has turned down several purchase offers and could in fact obtain financing from other more conventional systems.
Santamanía’s spirits are sold throughout Spain, 19 other European countries, in the Asia-Pacific regions (including Australia), Canada and South America. International expansion is part of the growth plan, and the company plans to create four small commercial branches to manage this corporate expansion. Funding will also be used toward a new double distillery space with a bigger cellar to increase production of brown spirits (such as rum), a new and larger Carl Copper Still for vodka and gin production to increase capacity up to 2.5m liters/year and a larger bottling line to increase efficiency and bottling capacity to meet expected demand.
The Santamanía team includes CEO Javier Domínguez, CFO Alfonso Guerrero, COO Ramón Morillo, Head of International Business Development Victor Fraile, Head of Marketing Sonia Bahón, Head of Operations Tirso Borrega, Head of Sales Francisco de la Fuente and newly appointed UK Director & Export Controller Justin Horsman.
