Bellhop, Kayak for Services, Crowdfunds on Republic

Bellhop, an App that is in development is raising money on Republic. The company is seeking a minimum raise of $50,000 in a Crowd Safe with a 20% discount at a valuation of $5 million.

So what does Bellhop do that may merit interest?

Bellhop is preparing to launch an “all-in-one” ride hailing App this coming November. The company is in the process of partnering with the the Port Authority of New York, starting with JFK terminal 4, with an estimaged 10 million a year in travelers. If you have ever queued up for a Taxi at JFK, you will hope their pilot is highly successful.

So you can already compare UBER and Lyft on your iPhone maps but ride hailing has now broadened beyond the two most prominent names. This phenomenon has occurred globally as traditional ride services have stepped up their game and local tech entrants have replicated the UBER model. Bellhop once to be the one App to rule them all providing a cost comparison service that drives quicker pickups for less money. The company explains their thesis:

“There are too many ride-hailing apps for the user to easily manage and compare, and with new apps constantly appearing it’s become impossible for consumers to find the best value.”

So aggregated ride hailing services has potential but then, as things ramp up, Bellhop wants to take things further.

Bellhop wants to evolve into the “Kayak for Services.”

Think food delivery, restaurant reservations, events and more. A single location to book all of your services. That is kind of interesting.

So can they pull it off and bring this all together? Starting with ride hailing and creating an effective and globally positioned service makes sense. Adding all of the other verticals is a heavier lift. But Bellhop management has compiled a respectable team of advisors including executives with experience at Grubhub, Expedia, Google and McKinsey.

Bellhop Beta is already live on the Apple App store so you can download it today. The Android version will launch before the end of the years. So you can check out the Bellhop service for yourself now to see how it works.

Bellhop’s filing with the SEC is available here.
