Weissenhaus Nears 2M€ Companisto Goal & Celebrates Second Michelin Star

Over 840 investors have rallied more than 1,893,900€  for northern Germany’s chic Weissenhaus Grand Village Resort & Spa am Meer second Companisto campaign. The hotel also recently celebrated its second Michelin star for Weissenhaus’ fine dining restaurant Courtier. This two-star rating can be found in the Michelin Guide 2018; according to the most renowned hotel and travel guide, Courtier is now featured as one of the eight best restaurants in northern Germany. Together with the seven cooks of his team, chef de cuisine Christian Scharrer is responsible for the culinary signature and success of Courtier.

To recap, Companisto claimed Europe’s largest crowdfunding campaign as approximately 1600 investors participated in the Weissenhaus’ first public offer. Weissenhaus, a 5 star resort and village located on the North Sea approximately 100 kilometers from Hamburg, secured over 892K€ toward its 2M€ goal on its first day.  About 12 years ago, Jan Henric Buettner, an entrepreneur, internet executive and angel investor, purchased the 400 year old village to restore and revitalize a resort that had fallen into disrepair.

In the next phase of funding expect further luxe transformations including the “Sonneneck” project (development and sale of apartments on the Weissenhaus estate)and “Bootshaus Hafencity” (opening of a further Bootshaus restaurant in the Hafencity district of Hamburg).

“To finance the next phase, we are planning to use the same financing mix made up of the initiators’ equity, a significantly smaller proportion of leverage and crowd funding. To this end we are inviting Companists to invest again together with the Initiator, Jan Henric Buettner,” according to the campaign. “The investment will be covered by, among other things, entries in the land register and a personal guarantee by Jan Henric Buettner serving as collateral.”
