Eagle Brewing NZ Seeks $750,000 on PledgeMe to Fund New Kaiapoi Brewpub

Christchurch craft brewery, Eagle Brewing NZ, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMe to raise up to $750,000 to fund the fit-out of their new Kaiapoi brewpub, The Port & Eagle. According to Eagle Brewing, the Port & Eagle is the brewery’s new brewpub and eatery that is being built in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury. Speaking about the new location, Eagle Founder and Head Brewer, Dave Gaughan, stated:

“The opportunity to create our own brewpub and eatery in Kaiapoi is brilliant. We’ve outgrown our brewery in Riccarton and we’ll now be able to brew and sell more award-winning beer in a new home space that will be distinctly Eagle. The Kaiapoi community have really welcomed us, and we felt that giving those that will call The Port & Eagle home – as well as all of our supporters around the country who enjoy our beer – the opportunity to invest in us was the right thing to do. They will become not only part-owners but also ambassadors and advocates, which will help us to strengthen our place in the competitive craft beer market, launch an exciting new venue, and offer our shareholders the opportunity to join a growing business in a growing community.”

Eagle Brewing also noted that with a boatshed design and full glass frontage, side and rear courtyard, bar area will interact with its surroundings and allow plenty of natural light to come into the building. The open truss roof space will enhance the boatshed feel, with complimentary lighting to blend with the theme of the development.

The bar and brewery experience function area will overlook the brewery, with exposure to the sounds and aromas of the whole process. An exciting entry/exit point to brewery tours will also be built into this area giving a memorable experience to those who take in a full brewpub experience.”

PledgeMe’s Chief Lending Officer, Barry Grehan, went on to add:

“Not only have Dave and his team already raised almost $40,000 in the first few days of their campaign, they’ve had members of their crowd offer their skills, their connections and their advice. One of their crowd is an interior designer who has offered his time to give feedback on their brewpub designs. That’s the power of actively asking your crowd to be involved in your plans.”

The campaign is set to close on April 18th.
