Yahoo Finance Adds Crypto Trading Feature to Its iOS Mobile App

Yahoo Finance is now allowing users to trade the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin directly from its platform using a Yahoo Finance iOS app.

Yahoo announced the development in a blog post August 30th, and said that Android, desktop an mobile web apps will soon follow.

The service is being provided “via an integration” with TradeIt, makers of an, “API infrastructure that links retail investors and app developers with any online financial broker.”

Reporting at Yahoo Finance elaborating on the blog announcement states that, “TradeIt notably integrated with the U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase last year…though it isn’t yet clear which brokerage Yahoo is connected with for the new offering.”

Joanna Lambert, General Manager of Finance & Tech at Oath, Yahoo’s parent company, said that Yahoo is, “constantly looking for ways to better serve audiences on the Yahoo Finance platform.”

Lambert added that she is “excited” about to be expanding Yahoo’s current services in conventional trading and cryptocurrency price quoting to include the provision of direct cryptocurrency trading:

“We first launched our integration with TradeIt one year ago, allowing people to trade on Yahoo Finance for the first time ever.  We’re excited to expand this offering to cryptocurrencies, further connecting our passionate community of investors with relevant utilities on our trusted platform.”

Bitcoin price quotes have been available on the Yahoo Finance site since 2014. It added price tracking of an additional 100 cryptocurrencies last year.
