Update: MacRebur’s Equity Crowdfunding Campaign Nears £2.9 Million During the Final Days on Seedrs

UK-based company that uses waste plastics to create strong, longer-lasting roads, MacRebur, is now nearing 2.9 million through its latest equity crowdfunding round on Seedrs. This news comes just days after the company announced it was planning to close the funding round on November 14th. The latest funding round comes just a little over a year and a half after MacRebur secured £1,274,140 through its first Seedrs funding round.

As previously reported, MacRebur claims to hold the UK and European patent on the method and recipe of mixing waste plastics such as bags, bottles, film wrapping, and cups, with bitumen, and its “magic formula,” to produce a new type of asphalt road material.  The company reported that its roads can now be driven on around the UK in places including Newcastle, Dumfries and Galloway, Durham, Enfield, Penrith and all over Cumbria, with trial roads being made and laid in Bahrain, Australia, New Zealand, and Turkey and are working with asphalt manufacturers to test and approve our products in these areas.

“MacRebur’s products are engineered from waste plastics destined for landfill or incineration. MacRebur use these waste plastics to replace part of the bitumen in an asphalt mix, resulting in an environmentally friendly, more durable, longer lasting road. At the end of the lifecycle of the roads, the waste plastics used can be fully recycled back into new roads.”

In regards to what the funds from the round will be used for, MacRebur’s team added:

“We are ready to scale up and take full advantage of the many opportunities available to us and wish to purchase further much-needed infrastructure to manufacture our products locally in the various counties and countries we have laid our roads. It’s important that we use local waste for local roads and need to purchase mobile recycling plants to process local waste for local roads. We require funds to further protect our intellectual property in the various countries we have expanded into.”
