CFTC Tech Advisory Committee Schedules Meeting on Stablecoins, Custody for Crypto & More

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) will hold a meeting tomorrow (Thursday), October 3 to discuss a series of topics that impact digital assets. CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz is the sponsor of TAC.

During the very first panel, TAC will discuss stablecoins and the potential implications for regulation. Following the announcement of Facebook’s stablecoin Libra, the topic has become very hot in policy circles.

One of the participants is Lee Schneider, GC of Block.one – issuer of EOS. Block.one just settled charges with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) while simultaneously indicating its enthusiasm to work with policymakers regarding regulation impacting digital assets.

A presentation on custody and cryptocurrency follows the discussion on stablecoins.

Just before lunch, a panel on distributed ledger technology (DLT) and market infrastructure will take place.

The TAC meeting will be live-streamed on the CFTC website. The meeting starts at 10 AM ET.
