Tandem Bank has hired the former HSBC Head of Banking Products Kunal Malani as Chief Growth Officer. The appointment comes at a time when the challenger bank is planning an expansion into Hong Kong.
Ricky Knox, Tandem Bank CEO, said he was delighted to bring Malani onboard:
“He brings a wealth of experience from over two decades working with legacy banks. I look forward to working with him as we drive our international growth plans and deliver on our ambitious domestic targets. This year we have made some exceptional senior appointments and as we continue to grow I anticipate many more talented industry professionals will look to make the move to the challenger bank space”.
According to Tandem, Malani will spearhead Tandem’s international expansion into Hong Kong this year and other potential new markets in 2020, in addition to driving Tandem’s domestic growth agenda here in the UK.
Malani reportedly has over 20 years of experience in product and commercial management spread over multiple regions including the UK, US, India, and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Tandem, Malani held executive roles at banks around the world, including Regional Head of Retail Banking Products, MENA at HSBC; Commercial Director at Barclays.
Malani said he was extremely excited to be leading Tandem’s international expansion plans as well as domestic growth:
