PayPal Surpasses $100 Million in Donations During GivingTuesday 2019

Payments platform giant PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) recently announced it surpasses $100 million during GivingTuesday 2019. According to PayPal, GivingTuesday is a global giving movement empowering people and organizations to transform their communities and create the world they want to live in.

“In a world that can sometimes be all too divided, GivingTuesday makes generosity and giving a part of everyday life, bringing people of all backgrounds, cultures and communities together to support the causes they care about most – and to make a difference.”

PayPal revealed that it has participated in the GivingTuesday movement since it began in 2012. It has enabled donations, measuring the impact, and spreading awareness about the donation event. The platform reported more than 1 million of its customers across 184 markets donated approximately $106 million to charitable causes. PayPal went on to add:

“For the first time, PayPal is inviting consumers and nonprofits to make every Tuesday GivingTuesday this December. Yesterday we kicked off the holiday giving season by matching your donations at 10%; and now through the end of December PayPal will continue to share inspiring stories of generosity from around the world each Tuesday to encourage our PayPal community of customers and employees to give all they can – whether it’s contributions, volunteering time, lending skills, buying gifts that give back, or simply performing daily acts of kindness to make a difference in the world.”
