Medic Bleep, a UK-based secure and real-time medical communication solution, announced on Monday it has extended its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube. The funding round, which has now raised more than 600,000 from over 500 Crowdcube investors, will now close at the end of April.
As previously reported, Medic Bleep is a secure and real-time communication solution. It enables doctors, nurses and the wider team to communicate and collaborate more effectively, accelerating productivity, reducing costs, and improving patient outcomes.
“Replacing traditional pagers, switchboard, landline and fax methodology which exist across the NHS and healthcare system globally. These communication modalities are one way and one to one. Medic Bleep reimagines this for the healthcare system. Our research suggests that poor inter team communication is the primary cause for 21% of patient harm; meaning a possible 400,000 episodes of potential harm a year, in the NHS alone.”
Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Founder and CEO of Medic Bleep, further explained:
“There are some fundamentals which need to be in place prior to scaling at place in healthcare, to make sure we do right for you all as citizens, for the staff and also for the system. Solving communication challenges in the NHS/social care system or indeed any healthcare system globally might seem simple, but there are many intricacies. To pull the entire solution together to solve this problem, there have been many pieces we have put together.”
In a new update, the Medic Bleep revealed why it was necessary to extend the funding round:
- It gives them the opportunity to finalize discussions with more investors
- Gives others more opportunity to make an investment as most people took much-needed downtime over Easter.
- Gives them an opportunity to make a few more announcements.
Funds from the Crowdcube round will go towards the development of Medic Bleep’s equipment. The company is currently offering 7.70% in equity at a £6,382,094 pre-money valuation.
