Update: Wirex’s Equity Crowdfunding Round Surpasses £2.7 Million on Crowdcube

Wirex, a UK-based payments platform, has secured more than£2.7 million raised through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube. The funding round, which quickly secured its initial £1 million minimum target, has so far attracted nearly 5260 Crowdcube investors.

As previously reported, Wirex is a UK FCA-licenced global digital payment platform that has forged new rules in the digital money arena. The company also claims it is the only platform that allows access to OTC and interbank rates for crypto and traditional currency exchanges respectively, ensuring our users always get the best deal. Speaking about the funding round, CEO and Co-Founder of Wirex, Pavel Matveev, recently stated:

“Wirex has been making huge strides in changing the financial landscape, by making it easier for everyone to access cryptocurrency and spend it in the everyday. By offering a platform that bridges the traditional and digital economy, we are helping to encourage the mass adoption of cryptocurrency for future generations.”

The funding round comes just weeks after Wirex announced it received its first money transmission license in the U.S. from the State of Georgia Department of Banking and Finance. According to Wirex, the license will allow them to engage in the business of money transmission serving the population of the state and marks an important milestone in the payment company’s push to offer its services to the U.S. population. Wirex currently serves three million customers across 130 countries.

Wirex’s Crowdcube campaign is set to close later this weekend.
