Bizzabo, a platform for event planning and attendee experience that consolidates logistical, promotional, and social tools, has raised a solid $138 million in a funding round announced this past week.
In a blog post, Bizzabo CEO and co-Founder Eran Ben-Shushan, commented on the new funding along with the challenges of COVID – something his company is well-positioned for in the new world of virtual events. Ben-Shushan said:
“We at Bizzabo are so excited for what comes next and I’d like to take a moment to provide you with more visibility into what makes us so excited! This investment that we are announcing today isn’t just an investment in Bizzabo; it’s an investment in our customers and an investment in the future of virtual, in-person, and hybrid event experiences. 2020 forced us to adapt to unforeseen difficulties. But it also presented an unprecedented opportunity for innovation. Alongside the understanding that in-person can’t be replaced, we’ve learned to embrace the huge benefits virtual has to offer when it comes to reach, personalization, efficiencies, environmental sustainability, and more.”
Bizzabo is planning a host of new features for their platform that should be beneficial to both live in-person events as well as the now-ubiquitous virtual ones.
This most recent funding round was led by Insight Partners but earlier investors, including OurCrowd, participated in the round. In fact, OurCrowd, along with two other seed-stage investors, received a nice shout out of recognition from Ben-Shushan as being an investor that believed in their vision from the beginning.
OurCrowd first invested in Bizzabo back in 2014 – a fact that highlights the reality of early-stage investing that it is not for the impatient. But today, the foresight to shoulder the investment risk in Bizzabo six years ago appears to be a solid bet.
To date, OurCrowd has booked about 40 exits including some high-profile IPOs, like Beyond Meat and the Insurtech Lemonade. OurCrowd reports around $1.5 billion in capital commitments for its portfolio of individual companies and series of funds.
