WeWork, a U.S.-based flexible space provider, announced earlier this week is now accepting payment in select cryptocurrencies. The company is notably working with BitPay and Coinbase to utilize cryptocurrency for inbound and outbound transactions. Through BitPay, WeWork will accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), Paxos (PAX), and several other cryptocurrencies as payment for its offerings. The company will also pay landlords and third-party partners in cryptocurrencies where applicable through Coinbase.
WeWork CEO, Sandeep Mathrani, spoke about the partnership and payment options by stating:
“WeWork has always been at the forefront of innovative technologies, finding new ways to support our members. It only makes sense for us to expand on the optionality we provide by adding cryptocurrency as an accepted form of payment for our members.”
WeWork Chairman and Softbank Group International CEO, Marcelo Claure, added:
“When we think about the workplace of the future and business, we have to consider cryptocurrency a central part of that conversation. Cryptocurrency helps build a stronger global economy and WeWork’s announcement demonstrates the company’s commitment not only to innovation, but also to being a globally-focused business.”
Founded in 2010, WeWork stated it is on a mission to create environments where people and companies come together and do their “best work”
“We’ve grown into a global flexible space provider committed to delivering technology-driven flexible solutions, inspiring spaces, and unmatched community experiences.”
