Update: 
Reports are now circulating that the Walmart/Litecoin partnership is fake news. A release was distributed via a prominent news service earlier this morning highlighting the partnership between the global retailer and top crypto.
CI reported earlier today that Walmart would be partnering with Litecoin on payments for both in-store and online transactions. Other retailers do allow crypto transactions so it is within the realm of possibility that Walmart would be accepting crypto for payments. News reports speculated that the fake release was designed to pump the value of Litecoin which jumped in price following the news.
Walmart has been moving more into Fintech in recent years with the retailer expected to launch its own digital bank after a key hire earlier this year. In August, it was reported that Walmart was looking to hire an individual with experience in digital currencies.
