Fintech Current Explains How You Can Get Your Tax Refund up to 5 Days Faster

Fintech firm Current notes that the end of the holiday season and the start of the new year can often be “a financial burden” with that extra spend from the holidays and “setting budget-goals for the new year.”

Although January marks a fresh or brand new start, it is also the “unofficial kickoff” to tax season, with April 15 being the last day to file your taxes with the US Internal Revenue Service. Fintech company Current writes in a blog post that you can file anytime “after you’ve received all deposits from 2021 and your respective tax documents.”

The company also noted that with Current, you can get your tax refund “up to five days faster with direct deposit to your Current account.” With its partnership with TurboTax, simply login to your Current account, “click on the ‘Go to TurboTax’ button to set up your e-file account, and have your Current routing and account numbers handy when filing.”

The company has also shared a few steps to help you get your funds faster:

  • Become a Current member—”sign up in 2 minutes.” (Note: If you are already a Current member, then make sure you’ve upgraded to Premium.)
  • Open your app and tap the banner at the top offering to help file your taxes.
  • Tap the ‘Go to TurboTax’ button to set up your e-file account.
  • When setting up your direct deposit on Turbotax to receive your refund, “make sure you use the easily accessible routing and account numbers shown on your screen to connect your Current account.”
  • Get your refund and have it in your Current account up to 5 days faster.

Although taxes can be overwhelming, Current wants to “make filing your taxes easier and faster than ever before.” The Fintech company clarified that there is “no need to wait until April 15 to file your tax returns—the earlier you file, the faster the returns will hit your account, meaning money in your pocket sooner.” Current further noted that you “might as well check off that ‘new year, new you’ box early by getting ahead, filing early with TurboTax, and receiving your tax return up to five days faster.”

As mentioned in the update, early access to tax refund “depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer.” The firm also noted that they “generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 5 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.” (Note: offer is valid for Current Premium accounts only.)
