House Committee on Financial Services Updates on March Hearings: AI, Stock Exchanges, and Consumer Protection on the Roster [u]

The House Committee on Financial Services has updated its schedule of hearings for the month of March. Next week, for Fintech insiders there will be several hearings of interest as follows:

  • March 30 at 10:00 AM ET: The Task Force on Artificial Intelligence will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Keeping Up with the Codes – Using AI for Effective RegTech.”
  • March 30 at 2:00 PM ET: The Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Oversight of America’s Stock Exchanges: Examining Their Role in Our Economy.”
  • March 31 at 10:00 AM ET: The Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “The End of Overdraft Fees? Examining the Movement to Eliminate the Fees Costing Consumers Billions.”

Of note, the Committee originally scheduled a hearing on March 29th on The Future of Money: Assessing the Benefits and Risks of a U.S. Central Bank Digital Currency. This is still listed on the Committee’s website but an announcement by the Committee appears to contradict the schedule. We will keep you posted.

Update: Committee website is now updated and has removed the Future of Money hearing.

Update 2: The hearing by the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence has been postponed.

All hearings are live-streamed on the Committee’s website.
