Notifi Introduces Web3 Messaging SDK, Integrates with Solana SPL Governance to Increase DAO Participation

Notifi, a messaging layer for Web3, has announced the launch of its SDK “to enable Web3 projects to drive communications at scale.”

Solana’s SPL governance protocol is reportedly “the first to integrate and go live with the Notifi SDK, enabling DAO administrators to send real-time notifications and messages via SMS, email directly within their Realms UI.”

Notifi claims to be one of the first Web3-native communication infrastructures “to enable SMS messaging in addition to email, voice, wallet-to-wallet, and natively within a protocol’s UI.”

Founded by two Oracle alumni behind Oracle Cloud’s real-time communication (RTC) infrastructure, Notifi “provides Web3 protocols with a multi-channel messaging layer to interact with users both on and off-chain.”

Paul Kim, co-founder and CEO of Notifi, stated:

“Despite rapid Web3 innovation and adoption with tens of millions of users and growing, there’s still a large communication gap between projects and their users. Traditional channels popular with Web3 communities like Discord, Telegram, and Twitter are too cluttered to serve as effective communication channels. With Notifi, we’re helping projects simplify and prioritize communication across multiple channels, eliminating distractions to keep their users engaged and informed on crucial updates.”

The Notifi SDK gives developers access “to simple APIs for easy integration, customizable experiences, and advanced features for dApps and Web3 applications.”

The APIs allow developers “to easily deploy messaging features without having to build their own communication infrastructure.”

With the Notifi SDK, developers can “be up and running with robust, multi-channel messaging capabilities within a matter of days.”

Notifi is designed “to streamline Web3 communications for a wide range of use cases, from DAO proposal and DeFi liquidation alerts to NFT airdrop notifications.”

While DAOs like MonkeDao grow in popularity with more than $10 billion currently held in DAO treasuries, participation “remains low for many projects, the majority of which see participation rates in the single digits.”

These “abysmal” participation rates continue “to present a major challenge to the decentralized nature of DAOs.”

In tandem with Notifi’s SDK launch, Realms is aiming “to boost DAO participation rates with the release of new messaging functionality for its DAO governance platform.”

Built on SPL Governance, Realms provides users with “a governance portal to track and participate in the governance of popular Solana-based protocols like Mango Markets, Serum, and Metaplex.”

Through integration with Notifi, Realms is now enabling DAOs “to utilize on and off-chain messaging to alert users of new proposals and proposal results.”

Users of DAOs that utilize Realms messaging features can “sign up for real-time SMS and email alerts to stay up to date on the latest proposals and other DAO activity.”

The new feature aims “to help DAOs boost participation rates by enabling them to break through the noise on saturated channels like Discord, Telegram, and Twitter where many notifications go unread.”

Sebastian Bor, Solana Labs DAO Software Engineer, stated:

“SPL Governance and Realms were built to provide core building blocks for fully on-chain governance on Solana through DAOs. Notifications are an integral part of informing community members about DAO activity, and we are excited to be working with Notifi to launch notifications within Realms.”

As noted in an update shared with CI, Notifi claims to be “Twilio for Web3.”

Notifi simplifies communication “across all Web3 messaging channels.”

The Notifi platform “is designed with simple APIs for easy integration, customizable, advanced features for dApps and Web3 applications.”

Notifi empowers developers “to better engage with their users via multichannel communications.”

As covered, Solana is “a global state machine, and the world’s most performant blockchain. It gives developers the confidence to build for the long term by delivering predictable scaling without compromising security or composability.”

Solana’s performance “is driven by a single global state, which is capable of processing tens of thousands of smart contracts at once, and by Proof of History, a distributed clock that unlocks low-latency, sub-second finality across the global state.”
