Utimaco, an international provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions, recently announced that it has signed a Share Purchase Agreement with Celltick, a global provider or Public Warning Systems (PWS), Mass Notification Systems (MNS), and one of the largest CBC (Cell Broadcast Center) providers.
Recent natural disasters, health crises and military conflicts have “put a spotlight on the need for efficient PWS, which allow public authorities to quickly alert the population and let them know of an ongoing crisis or imminent threat.”
Spearheaded by the US, many countries have “introduced legislation over the past decade, requiring the implementation of digital PWS.”
For instance, the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) makes “it mandatory for all Member States of the European Union (EU) to implement modern public warning systems.”
By June of this year, public authorities in all Member States “must be able to send alerts to people’s phones in a determined area.”
In Ukraine, Celltick is currently “working together free of charge with the State Emergency Service and the 3 mobile network operators, Kyivstar, Vodafone and Lifecell, to deploy a national cell broadcast-based PWS to help protect the civilian population in the war in Ukraine.”
Celltick claims that it is one of “the leading PWS solution providers.”
Its MAGEN® (Mass Alert Geo Emergency Notification) System is reportedly “the leading cell broadcast solution for PWS and already deployed in multiple countries around the globe and its MAGEN® CBC has been adopted by more than 70 mobile network operators worldwide.”
The combination of Celltick’s expertise and technology with Utimaco’s strong international network in the telecommunications, governmental and enterprise sectors, based on long-standing trusted business relationships, “creates a market leader with compelling offerings for governments and customers in telecommunications and enterprise markets.”
Stefan Auerbach, CEO of Utimaco stated:
“We are very impressed with Celltick’s technology and its highly skilled team. Both are a perfect fit for Utimaco and a powerful addition to our team and portfolio. Over the past few years, we have made strategic investments into reinforcing our Cyber Security solutions offering, and I am very pleased that we can now present such a valuable new portfolio element to our telecommunication and enterprise customers.”
Ronen Daniel, co-founder and CEO of Celltick, remarked:

Thus, we are very proud that Celltick with its best-in class PWS solutions is now part of Utimaco, contributing to our mission to create trust in the digital society.”

Celltick claims to be “a global leader of Public Warning Systems (PWS) and the world’s largest cell broadcast-based products provider, in terms of deployments and audience reach.”
Its CBC has been “adopted by over 70 mobile network operators worldwide in 25 countries, delivering around 1,000 alerts globally to around 1 billion users daily.”
