US House Committee on Financial Services May Agenda: Regtech and AI, Plus CBDCs

The US House Committee on Financial Services has distributed its May Committee schedule. Several hearings of note are on the list.

First, on May 11th at 10 AM ET, the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “A Notch Above? Examining the Bond Rating Industry. While there is no indication it will include Fintech, it should. Let’s wait and see what the Hearing memo holds.

On Friday, May 13 at 9 AM ET, the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Keeping Up with the Codes – Using AI for Effective Regtech.”

CBDCs or Central Bank Digital Currencies are back on the agenda. On Thursday, May 26 at 12 Noon, the full Committee will discuss, “Digital Assets and the Future of Finance: Examining the Benefits and Risks of a U.S. Central Bank Digital Currency.”

Of course, these hearings may always change and further details will be revealed a few days in advance of the hearing but each one should be of note to the Fintech sector.

All Hearings are live-streamed on the Committee website and available to the public.
