US Fintech Chime Promotes Tenured Employees to Senior Roles

Neobank Chime is pleased to announce the promotion of several of its executive leadership team members “in the areas of people, customer experience, and technology.”

The following leaders will now be officers of the company. Their promotions “are evidence of their contributions and impactful work to advance Chime’s mission of helping everyday people achieve financial peace of mind, together.”

Beth Steinberg has “been promoted to Chime’s Chief People Officer and will continue reporting to Co-founder and CEO, Chris Britt.”

Previously SVP of People and Talent, Beth has “been an exemplary leader for almost three years at Chime—with decades of experience.” She will “continue to lead and oversee all People functions, as well as contribute to the development of Chimers everywhere who deliver on Chime’s mission to help members achieve financial peace of mind.” This is “a mission that unites Chime’s entire workforce.”

Janelle Sallenave has “been promoted to Chime’s Chief Experience Officer (CXO) and will continue reporting to Chief Operations Officer, Mark Troughton.” A tenured leader, Janelle “was previously Chime’s SVP of Operations and Member Services and has helped transform Chime’s member experience, expanding Chime’s member services capabilities worldwide and 24×7. Under Janelle’s leadership, Chime has been named the most loved banking app by Bain.”

James Barrese has “been promoted to Chief Technology Officer and will continue reporting to Co-founder, Ryan King.”

As noted in the update, technology is “the backbone of Chime’s business, and James, previously SVP of Technology and Engineering, will lead the Technology organization as Chime builds and scales its technology platform while continuing to deliver financial services products Chime members love and setting new standards for the industry as we know it.”

As covered last year, Chime revealed that they are introducing free cash deposits at Walgreens.

Chime has teamed up with Walgreens (Nasdaq: WBA) to provide free cash deposits at 8,500+ locations. That’s “more walk-in locations than you’d have using any bank in the US.,” the company revealed.

The team at Chime also noted:

“What’s better than cash in your pocket? It’s getting that cash safely tucked away in your Chime Checking Account where you can save, share, and yes, spend it.”

The update from Chime also mentioned that the next time you make a Walgreens run, you can “make free cash deposits to your Chime Checking Account.”

The company added that they’ve partnered with Walgreens to bring clients access to convenient walk-in locations, and if you find yourself at one of 75,000 other retail locations including CVS ®, Walmart ®, and 7-Eleven®, you can also deposit cash there as well (terms may apply).
