Travel Fintech WeTravel Raises $27 million Series B Round

WeTravel has raised $27 million in a Series B funding round led by Left Lane Capital. Existing investors also participate in the round including Base10 Partners, Swift Ventures, and other “high profile” angel investors.

The company said that it will use the money to accelerate the development of its product. To date, WeTravel has raised $34 million.

WeTravel is a platform that supports travel bookings and payments. The company reports approximately half a million customers.

Johannes Koeppel, co-founder, and CEO, said they have developed an intuitive booking platform for business travelers adding that “in an instant, WeTravel’s platform has made it possible for any travel business to not only operate a business, but to be a successful travel business owner.”

WeTravel explains that in 2017 it started integrating various payment solutions, including installments and peer-to-peer transfers, in its booking system, thus enabling business travelers to have greater control over the money and the entire process. WeTravel describes its platform as disrupting legacy booking and payment systems with its travel-specific functionality and intuitive support features for any-sized business’s group trips.

“To extend our platform’s capabilities for users, we’ll be investing in multi-day travel businesses to engage, transact and retain their stakeholders and increase revenue,” said Koeppel. “What this platform extension means is opportunity for travel businesses to have access to the necessary booking and payment options that will help grow their travel business.”

Vinny Pujji, Left Lane Capital’s managing partner, calls WeTravel a best-in-class booking and payments platform.
