Worldline Acquires Stake in Fintech Platform SoftPos.eu

Only a few weeks after finalizing the sale of its terminal business to Apollo Funds for €2.3 billion, Worldline [Euronext: WLN] has now moved to acquire a 55% stake in SoftPos.eu, a Warsaw-headquartered Fintech platform that reportedy converts Android devices into secure payment terminals.

The investment in SoftPos.eu offers Worldline with a route to market that’s capable of addressing all merchant categories, from micro outlets with minimal requirements to larger retailers for line-busting technology.

Following the strategic investment, Worldline is introducing its own brand Tap on Mobile service globally, describing it as a “pivotal” or key addition to its suite for merchants.

Tap on Mobile will allow merchants to take payments using a mobile phone, tablet, or enterprise device via one single tap. The solution is developed to take small amounts simply by ‘tap’ as well as larger amounts with PIN entry on the screen.

Niklaus Santschi, head of merchant services at Worldline, stated:

“Worldline is now providing its clients with full suite of solutions adapted to all growth ambitions. Complementing our existing offers, Worldline Tap on Mobile offers convenience and flexibility to all sizes of commerce. This marks a new key strategic positioning for our company in the current landscape, with many business opportunities for us, and we’re just excited about the road ahead.”
