Binance Teams Up with Kazakhstan Government Organizations for Blockchain Education Program

Binance has partnered with Kazakhstan’s government organizations in charge of financial technology, education, digital development, and innovation “with the goal of delivering blockchain education to 40,000 people by 2026.”

To plan and execute this large-scale initiative, Binance joined forces with the Research Lab’s Blockchain Center, created by the Center for the Development of Payment and Financial Technologies of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Astana Hub; the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Education.

Gleb Kostarev, Binance Asia Regional Head, said:

“We support Kazakhstan’s goal to become a leading player in digital technologies, which would not be possible without increasing education and blockchain adoption around the country. Binance has always valued education, and Binance Academy is one of the largest learning hubs in the blockchain industry.”

In May 2022, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), CEO and founder of Binance, met with the president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, “to discuss cooperation in blockchain and crypto education, among other initiatives.”

Later in June, the Center for the Development of Payment and Financial Technologies of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Astana Hub “established the Research Lab’s Blockchain Center to drive the development of blockchain industry by various means, including the creation and implementation of educational programs in the country.”

In October 2022, Binance was “granted a permanent license by Kazakhstan’s AIFC Financial Services Authority (AFSA) to operate a digital asset platform and provide custody services at the Astana International Financial Center.”

The permanent license gives Binance “the status of a regulated platform in Kazakhstan and attests to its robust compliance and security controls.”

Along with the blockchain education program, Binance hopes “to deliver crypto services and resources to Kazakhstan and, ultimately, the world.”

Gleb Kostarev, Binance Asia Regional Head, said:

“Our partnership with Kazakhstan state organizations is another step in bringing accessible and standard-setting blockchain and crypto education to all.”

On December 20, 2022, a Memorandum of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Binance was signed “in the presence of Mr. Musin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Zhalenov, the Chairman of the Board of Center for the Development of Payment and Financial Technologies of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Madiev, the General Manager of Binance Kazakhstan.”

According to the agreement, Binance will “provide educational materials and support to develop and execute the basic educational program on blockchain and compliance for participating Kazakhstan universities.”

With this, Kazakhstan will “become one of the first countries in the world to provide a basic blockchain curriculum in university programs across the country.”

The move will “help these institutions to graduate professionals armed with fundamental blockchain, digital assets, and compliance knowledge, which will become an invaluable resource for the development of the blockchain industry in Kazakhstan and beyond.”
