Former acting Comptroller of the Currency Brian Brooks has joined the board of the HBAR Foundation.

The HBAR Foundation is the entity that is guiding the adoption of the Hedera blockchain – a distributed ledger is an enterprise-grade public network.

While at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Brooks was well-known for embracing innovation as long as it adhered to strict compliance demands.

Following his stint at the OCC, Brooks was briefly at Binance.US and then as Chief Legal Officer at Coinbase. Brooks is currently CEO and board member at Bitfury.

Brooks commented on joining the HBAR Board, saying he is passionate about DLT and Web3 adoption.

“The HBAR Foundation, through a comprehensive grant program, has successfully grown awareness, accelerated access and increased commerce in the HBAR economy by providing expert support across technology, marketing and business development. Together we will continue to be thought-leaders and drive the industry forward to deliver on the vision of making Hedera the trust layer of the internet.”

Shayne Higdon, Co-founder and CEO of the HBAR Foundation, said Brook’s experience with both traditional and Web3 finance is unparalleled.

The HBAR Foundation has so far allocated funding of more than $408 million and awarded over 225 grants for distributed ledger technology (DLT) projects utilizing the proof-of-stake Hedera network.
