Google Workspace Integrates Stripe to Help Firms Accept Payments via Google Calendar

Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, announced a partnership with Google Workspace to power paid appointment bookings with Google Calendar.

The new feature, which is built on Stripe Connect and Stripe Checkout, “enables customers to pay for services directly while making a booking on a Google Calendar booking page.”

Ilya Brown, vice president of product management at Google Workspace, said:

“Stripe makes it incredibly easy to accept payments directly from Google Calendar, so customers can complete bookings and make payments in seconds.”

With this new feature, businesses can “connect their Stripe account, set a price, and then offer their clients the ability to book and pay for services in Google Calendar.”

Customers are able to “visit their booking page, choose a preferred time, and enter their payment details.” Businesses can “gate access to a meeting until payment is made through the appointment booking page.”

Mike Clayville, chief revenue officer at Stripe, said:

“Making appointment booking and payment ridiculously easy for customers means less administrative work and more revenue for businesses.”

By using Stripe Checkout, Google Workspace “provides businesses that accept payments through Google Calendar with a highly optimized checkout form.”

Stripe Checkout is crafted “to eliminate friction in payments, and offers access to over 40 payment methods.” Stripe recently announced findings “from a controlled study that revealed that businesses using Stripe’s newest checkout optimizations saw 10.5% more revenue.”

Paid appointment bookings will “roll out globally to select Workspace subscribers in the coming weeks.”

As covered recently, MACH Alliance, a group of independent tech companies dedicated to advocating for open, best-of-breed technology ecosystems, announced that Stripe has joined the Alliance.

Stripe, which builds economic infrastructure for the internet, is “used by many of the world’s leading enterprises from Amazon to BigCommerce, Ford, Zara, Maersk and more.”

Casper Rasmussen, MACH Alliance president, said:

“Stripe serves as an excellent example of a company that’s built upon a modern technical infrastructure. They’ll be strong champions for the Alliance across their vast network of users and partners, which will influence broader embrace of MACH across the fintech category.”

Dorothy Copeland, global head of partnerships at Stripe, said:

“MACH Alliance is enhancing the online commerce space and is a leading standard for the industry. Becoming a member was an obvious choice—many existing Alliance members are already Stripe users and partners, which demonstrates the importance of this ecosystem to accelerate digital experiences.”
