Binance Labs, the venture capital and incubation arm of Binance, has invested in Delphinus Lab, an infrastructure provider that has implemented the first known open-source zkWASM virtual machine that supports trustless computation and application SDKs.
zkWASM technology enables developers “to craft zero-knowledge (ZK) applications using their preferred programming language and deploy them across WebAssembly (WASM)-supported environments.” The introduction of zero-knowledge proof technology “combined with WASM allows for enhanced security and privacy of applications, paving the way for a more trustless and decentralized digital landscape.”
Yi He, Co-Founder of Binance and Head of Binance Labs, commented:
“At Binance Labs, we’re committed to supporting projects building critical infrastructure to propel the growth of Web3 applications. Delphinus Lab’s zkWASM implementation will welcome a new wave of Web2 developers onto the Web3 landscape. We look forward to witnessing Delphinus Lab lead the zkWASM narrative, and enabling widespread adoption of Web3 applications among developers and end users.”
WebAssembly (WASM) is a widely adopted virtual machine collaboratively “developed by Google, Mozilla, Microsoft, and Apple in 2017, it allows code to run natively on browsers with popular programming languages used by developers worldwide.”
Delphinus Lab’s zkWASM virtual machine plays “a crucial role as a trustless bridge between feature-rich applications operating on WASM smart contracts on various blockchains.”
Enabling The Next-Generation Web3 DApps
The funds invested by Binance Labs will “support the ongoing development of Delphinus Lab’s zkWASM-based application rollup platform, zkWASM Hub, which provides automated proving and batching services for application workloads with customizable WASM extensions.”
The platform also allows developers “to distribute their GitHub applications onto zkWASM Hub through its auto compilation and updating service.”
Sinka Gao, Founder & CEO of Delphinus Lab, said:
“Our zkWASM Hub introduces a streamlined multi-chain execution layer for developers to easily deploy and manage their WASM-backed apps in a dynamic rollup environment. Our goal is to enable next-generation Web3 DApps that leverage the robustness of Web2 while embracing the decentralized, trustless nature of Web3. We’re excited to partner with Binance Labs, a leading player, and anticipate the adoption of WASM-based applications.”
As noted in the update, Delphinus Lab is at “the forefront of zkWASM innovation in the Web3 space, presenting the first implementation of an open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine designed to support WASM.”
This advancement is easily “accessible to developers via zkWASM Hub, redefining the landscape of secure and efficient decentralized applications.”
As the venture capital arm and accelerator of Binance, Binance Labs has now “grown to be worth over $9 billion.”
Its portfolio covers 200 projects “from over 25 countries across six continents and has a return on investment rate of over 10X.” Fifty of Binance Labs’ portfolio companies are projects “that have gone through our incubation programs.”
