FinTech Wales, an independent membership association of the fintech and financial services industry in Wales, has announced the appointment of Sarah Kocianski as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Kocianski, a seasoned strategist in the Fintech and Insurtech sectors, brings over a decade of experience working with a diverse range of financial services organizations worldwide, including global enterprises, scaleups, and startups.
Her background includes strategic roles with several fintech membership groups, such as Qorus, and a committee position at WVC:E, focusing on enhancing equality within the venture capital investment ecosystem.
Kocianski’s prior roles include leading strategic insights at Founders Factory, where she aided financial services partners like Aviva in their fintech investment strategies, and heading competitor strategy at 11:FS, a consultancy known for its global research and advisory services in the financial sector.
Upon accepting her new role, Kocianski expressed her enthusiasm for contributing to the growth of the fintech ecosystem in Wales, citing the region’s innovation and talent as key drivers of its reputation as a fintech hub. She emphasized her commitment to supporting Welsh FinTech businesses and promoting their offerings on various stages, from local to global.
Sarah Williams-Gardener, the outgoing CEO and newly appointed chair of FinTech Wales, praised Kocianski’s appointment, highlighting her extensive experience and dedication as crucial for the continued growth of FinTechs in Wales.
Williams-Gardener expressed confidence in Kocianski’s leadership as FinTech Wales enters its next phase of evolution aimed at sustaining and expanding the Welsh FinTech ecosystem.
