Elliptic Integrates zkSync to Improve Blockchain Support, Enhance the Holistic Network

In a significant move to enhance its holistic blockchain analytics proposition, Elliptic, the global enabler of cryptoasset risk management solutions, has announced that it has added support for zkSync, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum.

Organizations building applications on zkSync will have “access to Elliptic’s real-time wallet and transaction screening tools to uncover any links to illicit actors.”

This includes hybrid exchange GRVT, who “uses Elliptic’s monitoring tools to ensure compliance and risk management programs are efficient, effective, and scalable.”

Hong Yea, CEO and Co-founder of GRVT, said:

“GRVT is dedicated to building a safe, compliant self-custodial centralized exchange. As a hybrid exchange building on zkSync, we’ll be the first to leverage Elliptic’s advanced monitoring tools through this integration. This helps us to ensure top-tier compliance and risk management, prioritizing user safety in every crypto transaction.”

Lukasz Kujawa, VP of Engineering for Elliptic, said:

“Integrating zkSync allows us to extend our capabilities and provide our clients with the most comprehensive blockchain support in the industry. We are eagerly anticipating the innovative solutions that GRVT and other builders in the zkSync ecosystem will bring. This integration not only solidifies our leading position in the blockchain intelligence industry but also paves the way for the continuous evolution of this transformative technology.”

By leveraging zero-knowledge proofs, zkSync provides “a scalable, low-cost solution to Ethereum’s high gas fees and slow transaction times.”

This is particularly of value for businesses and individuals “who rely on Ethereum for their operations.”

Vassilis Tziokas, Head of Enterprise Business Development of Matter Labs, said:

“zkSync has bypassed major technology bottlenecks as it relates to speed, cost, and scalability. We’re seeing growing adoption with businesses and consumers alike coming on-chain, and with greater usage comes more complexity, more data, and more risk. This is why the integration of blockchain analytics providers, such as Elliptic, is crucial to the development of the zkSync ecosystem. Builders and users on zkSync now have more tools to monitor activity, garner greater insights, and mitigate risk, paving the way for the creation of fully transparent and secure applications.”

Zero-knowledge (ZK) technology is “a cryptographic proof technique that allows one party to prove to another they know a value, without conveying any additional information. zkSync works by aggregating many transactions into a batch and then only posting a minimal summary of changes to Ethereum along with a cryptographic proof that those changes are correct.”

This allows zkSync to scale significantly while “offering industry-leading low transaction fees, and maintaining the highest security standards.”

This integration represents an opportunity “for Elliptic to leverage zkSync to drive innovation in the blockchain industry and offer users more robust, comprehensive solutions.”

As noted in the update, GRVT is a self-custodial hybrid cryptocurrency exchange, “bridging the security of centralized exchanges with the transparency of decentralized ones, aiming to eliminate counterparty risk through traditional trading infrastructure and blockchain smart contract settlement systems.”

Leveraging zero-knowledge technology, GRVT achieves “a transaction speed of 600,000 per second with single-digit millisecond latency. GRVT will initially offer central limit order book trading for perpetuals and options, with plans for request-for-quote (RFQ) and spot trading in the future.”
