Blockchain Firm Ripple and Peersyst to Leverage evmOS to Enhance XRP Ledger (XRPL) EVM Sidechain

Ripple and Peersyst will leverage evmOS in order to further develop and enhance the XRP Ledger (XRPL) EVM sidechain, which is currently in Devnet.

The XRPL EVM sidechain will be “built leveraging evmOS — a modular and customizable tech stack offered by Evmos.”

evmOS enables EVM compatibility and “full customizability on top of the Cosmos SDK.”

It brings access to “over 60 Cosmos SDK chains via the Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).”

Powered by evmOS, the XRPL EVM sidechain “aligns with industry standards and joins one of the most versatile web3 ecosystems, the interchain.”

evmOS comes with a host of features and modules “centered around the EVM implementation for Cosmos SDK. IBC functionality, EVM extensions, access to the dApp Store, and complete customizability make it more than just lines of code, but a ready-to-launch solution tailored to everyone.”

The evmOS stack prioritizes native, cross-chain applications and is “built with the Cosmos SDK, running on the CometBFT consensus engine.”

The modular nature of evmOS will “offer XRPL developers unseen flexibility in expanding the XRPL EVM sidechain on their terms.”

Bringing the XRPL to the interchain means “connecting its vast community of users, dApps, and liquidity to a network of over 90 interconnected chains.”

As one of the layer 1s in the blockchain space, the XRPL has “established a mature community.”

The interchain has become a dynamic network, “fostering synergy among diverse blockchain projects.”

The XRPL community now gains “a passport to all Cosmos SDK chains, allowing its users to seamlessly interact with any applications they need.”

Jasmine Cooper, Head of DeFi Product at Ripple said:

“Bringing the XRPL EVM sidechain to the interchain with evmOS represents a significant milestone in expanding the XRPL community. By leveraging evmOS technology, we can offer developers unparalleled flexibility and customization options, enabling them to build innovative cross-chain applications that tap into the vast potential of the XRPL and the broader interchain community. We believe utilizing evmOS will accelerate the growth of the XRPL EVM sidechain and unlock new opportunities for developers and users.”

evmOS Outposts will further enhance “the interoperability of the XRPL EVM sidechain. Outposts act as gateways, connecting different blockchain networks and enabling the transfer of assets and information between them, abstracting complex functionality for the end user. With the example of Osmosis, XRPL users will be able to perform swaps on Osmosis in one transaction without switching wallets and reconnecting to different chains, despite Osmosis not being an EVM-compatible chain.”

Ripple and Peersyst utilizing evmOS “signifies a huge leap forward, combining tried and tested solutions with versatility and interoperability.”

As the XRPL embarks on its interchain journey, the broader blockchain community eagerly anticipates “the ripple effect this will have on the industry at large.”
