As was reported yesterday, Seedrs has rebranded to Republic Europe. Republic, based in the US, announced the acquisition of the investment crowdfunding platform in 2021. The re-branding is an obvious transition as Republic aims to create a global brand of online capital formation and ancillary services.
John Lake, Managing Director of Republic Europe, distributed a statement on the change:
“This is an incredibly exciting milestone event for Republic and is the latest step in its mission to create a world where everyone, everywhere, has equal access to high-quality investment and ownership opportunities.”
Lake stepped into the leadership role at Republic Europe in January 2024. He had previously served as Seedrs’ Chief Commercial Officer since 2020.
The company stated that Republic Europe is now the new identity of the European operation of Republic’s Global Equities Marketplace – a platform that serves retail, Sophisticated, and HNW customers. Republic claims to be one of the most active primary issuance and secondary trading platforms in the world.
Beyond enabling investment in private firms, Republic Europe will also offer VC funds while connecting entrepreneurs to raise funding from professional investors, including institutions.
